The 4th Annual 517 Juneteenth Weekend! Join us in Lansing’s REO Town District of a unique opportunity to celebrate Black culture, expression, entrepreneurship, and experiences.
Attracting thousands of participants to Lansing’s REO Town Corridor annually, the 517 Juneteenth Weekend recognizes the emancipation of African-American slaves in the United States of America, while highlighting Black arts, Black businesses, Black voices, and Black stories.
Join us for a weekend of events, collaboration, and celebration, all leading up to the 517 Juneteenth Festival, Saturday, 6/15/24.
The 517 Juneteenth Festival is free arts and culture street festival, featuring live performances by award-winning R&B singer and songwriter, Kevin Ross, and a host of local, regional, and national performers and DJ’s, Black-owned business vendors lined down both sides of S. Washington Ave, our fully stocked Kidz Zone, informational booths, food + our Battle of the Q’s BBQ station, and much more!
The festival will be held right on South Washington Ave (between South St and E. Elm).

6/13/24 – Black History. Black Futures Seminar: Empowering Black Wellness (seminar)
Location: Cadillac Room (REO Town)
The annual “Black History. Black Future. » seminar sets the stage for a transformative journey towards empowerment as we kick-off the 517 Juneteenth Weekend. With a resounding theme of « Empowering Black Wellness, » this seminar delves deep into the intersections of the 8 Dimensions of Wellness. Featuring a lineup of esteemed Black women speakers, the event promises enlightening discussions on financial, occupational, social, emotional, spiritual, mental, physical, and environmental wellness. Through open dialogue and shared experiences, this seminar promotes holistic wellness within the Black community, while providing valuable resources and information to foster personal growth and community resilience.
Following the seminar, we will host a mixer, featuring drinks, refreshments, and DJ sets by Ozay Moore.

6/14/24- 517 Juneteenth Ice Cream Social (REO Town)
Location: Riverview REO Town – Parking Lot
Join us for the 3rd Annual Juneteenth Ice Cream Social on Friday, June 14th! This family-friendly event, sponsored by MILK Means More, offering free ice cream from RJ’s Metropolitan Ice Cream.
Enjoy inflatables, break dancing, and music by All of the Above Hip-Hop Academy, as well as science experiments by Impression 5 Science Center, and an immersive learning experience in PNC’s Mobile Learning Adventure. Don’t miss out on youth-owned vendor booths and more fun activities for everyone!

6/15/24- 517 JUNETEENTH FESTIVAL!
Location: S. Washington Ave – REO Town
Join us for the 4th Annual 517 Juneteenth Festival, igniting the heart of Lansing’s REO Town with a jubilant celebration of freedom and culture. This year’s festival features headline performances by the award-winning R&B Singer/Song-Writer, Kevin Ross, alongside the uplifting sounds of Tasha Page-Lockhart, and live performances by Lansing’s-own, MikeyyAustin, with many other talented local and regional artists.
Dance in the streets with us, as you immerse yourself in themed DJ sets, explore offerings from over 70 vendors, tantalize your taste buds in our food court, and let the little ones explore in our Kidz Zone.
6/16/24 – Father’s Day Jazz Night
Location: Cadillac Room (REO Town)
Join us for the 3rd Annual Juneteenth Father’s Day Jazz Night, where the evening will be filled with live performances by Rockelle Whitaker and Michael Reed & The Revelation. DJ Dolo will keep the vibes flowing with sets throughout the night, while adult beverages will be available for purchase. Celebrate this special occasion with great music, good company, and a memorable evening of jazz.
