From November 16 to 18, 2022, the eleventh edition of « Raumwelten – Platform for Scenography, Architecture and Media » will set off into virtual worlds. Under the motto /imagine, Raumwelten will take place in the VR Hub, a digital multi-user experience accessible on mobile devices, desktop and in virtual reality. Visitors and attendees can join from anywhere in the world via URL link – access is easy and free of charge. Well-known innovative presenters include the United States arts and entertainment company Meow Wolf, London-based design studio Space Popular, internationally acclaimed panorama artist Yadegar Asisi and independent game UX strategist Celia Hodent.

Talking About Space In Space
Raumwelten VR Hub offers an extraordinary programme for professionals as well as for the interested public: Here talented and renowned speakers (see below) from around the world, who are innovating and working as world builders, immersive designers, architects, and creators in both digital and physical spaces, will present inspiring and visionary topics that invite all attendees to discuss possibilities of space.

“It’s the reason why the presentations this year are not in passive Zoom formats. Instead of talking about their spaces by looking at an image on a slide, we bring users into 360° images of the real space or walk-around 3D models that help the audience understand the concept in another way”, says Allison Crank, curator of this year’s Raumwelten edition.

A Digital Pleasure Garden
This year’s virtual Raumwelten edition offers new opportunities to attendees: The digital space with its engaging and playful design invites the curious to explore and wander around – as in a digital pleasure garden. In addition to enjoying the presentations on traditional platforms and on the main screen of the Raumwelten VR Hub, attendees can spend time in the main hub space or explore the different presentation spaces at their leisure. Attendees will be able to choose their /imagine avatar (a Midjourney version of the Bauhaus Ballet), talk to others and travel through different portals to other spaces.
For the first time, this year the access to Raumwelten VR Hub is completely free of charge which is made possible by the support given to the « ITFS & Raumwelten VR Hub » project as part of « dive in. Programme for Digital Interactions » of the Kulturstiftung des Bundes (German Federal Cultural Foundation) with funding by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) through the NEUSTART KULTUR programme.
